Preparing children for the “total” experience of kindergarten | This is accomplished by providing a variety of carefully selected developmental activities and materials. Our program utilizes a structured curriculum with individual attention to focus on | • Letter and their sounds introduced in a prescribed order • Creative writing skills using phonetic spellings • Opportunities to expand vocabulary and extend children's thinking through reasoning • Small group interaction for social development • Journal writing encourages emergent language and literacy development • Pre-math skills such as writing numbers, counting, size and shape recognition
| | Book handling skills, the association of pictures and words, and left to right progression is emphasized throughout the year. Our staff engages children in meaningful conversation throughout the day. The children are asked questions that require more than one word answer and talk about pictures and experiences. |
Challenging developing abilities with variety of learning experiences
| Throughout the day, children make choices of activities and have opportunities to engage in cooperative play and projects. Opportunities are provided for children to demonstrate competence of self-help skills and self-control. Creative movement, music, art and computer experiences round out the Pre-K curriculum. |
