Introduction
Each child is a unique individual with his/her own destiny. Their life begins and so does their learning process. The learning process builds throughout their lifetime. Education is the foundation needed for it to strengthen and flourish. Our school is committed to providing children with the opportunities needed to build a strong foundation for academic success.
Curriculum

Our curriculum offers opportunities for creative expression, social interaction skills, communication skills and individual development all in a nurturing, caring and encouraging environment. We encourage decision-making, risk taking, and responsibility. The children are given the freedom to explore, experiment and make choices through guidance and support. Self esteem and individuality are nurtured while providing children with a sense of well being, belonging and acceptance. Our curriculum focuses on:

Phonics (decoding skills) and whole language (comprehension), taught simultaneously.

Basic math skills and concepts through the use of manipulatives and a guided individual practice.
Science and Social Studies are integrated throughout the curriculum in thematic units with hands on activities.
Spanish and Computer Science.

Several published curriculum sources, found in Texas public and private schools as well as activities created by our experienced teacher are used to implement our program.

An Individualized Approach

We are committed to each child and his/her individual rate of development. Smaller teacher/child ratios makes this possible. Accelerated instruction is available to challenge and stimulate students who master skills or excel in a particular area. We recognize the importance of strong parental involvement in the program and the need for frequent, if not daily, communication between parents and teacher.

Assessment

In addition to report cards, children’s work and progress is evaluated through portfolios, observations, and anecdotal records.
